Breakfast was a repeat of peanut butter banana oatmeal. I have eaten this so many times that I did not take a pic because I thought you might be getting bored with my breakfast choices. Tomorrow will be more interesting. I promise.
Pat and I did some grocery shopping this afternoon and then had a picnic courtesy of the Whole Foods hot bar for lunch.
Our picnic scenery

Sesame tofu, broccoli, green beans and kale with bok choy dumplings
Pat had a turkey burger panini with grilled veggies.
We shared a slice of vegan lemon poppy seed cake for dessert. Sooooo good!
When we got home, Patrick decided to help out by organizing the pantry. There is a reason I like him to stay out of the kitchen. I was folding laundry as I listened to him shuffling around in the cabinets, muttering to himself the whole time. Here are some of the things I heard as he took things out of bags and tried to find a place for them...

How many jars of peanut butter does she have? 1, 2, 3... Oh there's number 10... Maple Almond Butter... Why do we have 13 different types of nut butter?
Salsa verde? Is this salsa? It's green... Sarina?? What is this??
Do you still want these fafalelela, farfale whatever you call em things?
I see we still have sea vegetables in the cabinet from 1995. Should we wait another few weeks before we throw them out or just get rid of them now?
Organic olive oil, olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, olive oil spray, safflower oil, sesame oil, and oh look... coconut oil...
The only thing worse than having a man go through your pantry is having him go through your shoe collection. Patrick- stay away! I need all 32 pairs of sandals.
After the organization extravaganza we went for a nice long walk (I had to get him as far away from my nut butter collection as possible). It was such a beautiful day! By the time we got back we were starved so we quickly put together some pizza. I was psyched to think of a way to use some leftover tempeh bacon with bacon/pineapple pizza. Yum!
Pat, Nice Job!! You won't have to do that ever again. Have you tried turning the white laundry pink yet? Ken
ReplyDeleteDon't give him any ideas Ken ; )
ReplyDeleteWhat movie did you watch?? Hopefully a chick flick ; )
ReplyDeleteHaha kind of an in between... The Invention of Lying. It was silly but fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks so delicious!
ReplyDeleteLOL so funny about your man looking through your pantry. I kind of get that way with my parents whenever I'm back at home. They just don't know where anything goes in the kitchen... and they're there most of the year!!!
That pizza sounds sooo glorious! And so does your picnic :) I love dim sum and it's hard to find vegetarian friendly ones.. I wonder if the Whole Foods here has the bok choy dumplings :)
XOXO
1995 SEA VEGETABLES ARE LIKE A FINE WINE.....THEY AGE WELL!! PAT, DONT LET THEM BOTHER YOU. IT STARTS SMALL WITH 10 DIFFERNET PEANUT BUTTERS, THEN IT GROWS TO 32 PAIRS OF SANDALS, AND THEN NO ROOM!! AND OUT GO THE METALLICA T-SHIRTS!! DOD
ReplyDeleteThe bok choy dumplings were good... I am trying to think of a way to recreate in my kitchen but have never tried making dumplings before. Let me know if you stumble upon any good recipes : )
ReplyDeleteNo amount of sea vegetables or sandals would be enough to toss the Metallica shirts... As long as I can have my 13 jars of peanut butter, the t-shirt collection can keep growing : )
ReplyDeleteI think if you post as Anonymous and then sign DOD (Dear old Dad) the jig is up.....I agree with Sarina...a happy home is one in which 32 pairs of sandals can co-exist with many Metallica T-shirts....however, none of them can be pink!! By the way, the Pizza looks delicious!
